THE DESIGN
SECLUDED BEAUTY, THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED
Designed by London based practice M_A/D Architects, the Tapia Cabins embody a refined simplicity, offering an immersive retreat that blurs the boundaries between architecture and nature. Thoughtfully designed as standalone sanctuaries, each 32sqm/344sqft cabin is a balance of seclusion and comfort, where the elegance of a well-appointed hotel room meets the raw beauty of natural landscapes.
Elevated delicately above the ground, the cabins embrace a sense of lightness, resting delicately within their surroundings while providing uninterrupted access to the natural wonders of the islands. Every detail is considered to cultivate serenity—an invitation to disconnect, unwind, and experience a profound connection to place.
DESIGN rooted in place
A quiet architectural presence defines the Tapia Cabins, connecting their form through slender steel columns that anchor the structures lightly to the terrain, preserving the purity of the landscape. Above, a sculpted volume unfolds in a staggered, organic composition, reflecting the flow of interior spaces.
Wrapped in finely crafted hardwood timber, the cabins breathe with the environment, allowing soft daylight to filter through delicate vertical slats while inviting the gentle island breeze to pass through the cabin interiors. The interplay of material and form creates a dialogue between enclosure and openness, offering spaces that feel both sheltered and expansive.
SUSTAINABLY APPROACHED
Designed with an inherent sensitivity to climate and context, the Tapia Cabins embrace a holistic approach to sustainability. Louvred and solid hardwood shutters blend seamlessly into the exterior, providing an intuitive way to adjust light, air, and privacy.
This passive cooling strategy reduces the need for artificial climate control, allowing the cabins to exist in quiet harmony with their surroundings. More than just a place to stay, the Tapia Cabins are a testament to the beauty of restraint—an experience shaped by nature, refined by design, and attuned to the environmental sensitivity of the islands.
